The 758-room Westin Maui Resort & Spa has perpetuated it's theme of wellness by converting all its guest rooms and suites to non-smoking. The resort was already nearly seventy percent non-smoking, but felt that with the opening of a new luxury spa facility, the healthy next thing to do was to give all the rooms a fresh, clean make-over.

All guest rooms have undergone a thorough cleaning and transformation, making them unrecognizable as any previous 'smoking' rooms. Any guests wishing to smoke, may do so on their outdoor private lanai, and ashtrays are available upon request. Most public areas still remain available for smokers.

"We just spent $5 million opening an amazing spa and workout facility where we are promoting an active, healthy, purifying experience," said Craig Anderson, General Manager. "To then have those guests staying in a smoking room really counterbalances that. We still embrace our guest who smokes, we just provide different options for them, such as going out onto their lanai and enjoying their time outdoors."
