HEAVENLY SPA INDULGENCES
AT THE WESTIN MAUI RESORT & SPA, KA’ANAPALI

Luxurious Spa Pamperings at Award-Winning Heavenly Spa by Westin

KA’ANAPALI BEACH, MAUI, HAWAI‘I – Heavenly Spa by Westin at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali is designed to rejuvenate and renew the mind, body and spirit amidst its luxurious oceanfront setting with breathtaking views of famed Ka’anapali Beach. Serving as the spa’s main inspiration and trademark, the locally-grown lavender from upcountry Maui is incorporated in many of its unique treatments such as the Island Lavender Body Butter Treatment and the Helani (heavenly) Tropical Indulgence.  The subtle floral fragrance appeals to both men and women and is known to calm nerves, relieve stress and insomnia and promote an overall sense of well-being and serenity.

Within the 15,000 square-foot full-service spa are 16 treatment rooms including two couples massage suites- each with a whirlpool and candlelit ambience; separate men and women lockers with sauna, steam room and whirlpools; ocean view relaxation lounge where guests are pampered with lavender lemonade and lavender biscotti; the trademark “Westin Workout” 24-hour facility powered by Reebok with state-of-the art equipment and tropical views of waterfalls, exotic wildlife and the ocean; open-air yoga and fitness studio offering classes such as moonlight yoga; a full-service beauty salon with hairstyling, manicures, pedicures, hair-braiding, and make-up; and bridal party preparation.  An outdoor cabana for single or couple massages surrounded by waterfalls and lush gardens completes the extensive offerings of Heavenly Spa by Westin.

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali recently launched a new Westin In-Room Spa program, bringing the personalized luxury and comfort of a full-service spa to the privacy of the hotel room.  As part of the hotel industry’s first global in-room spa program, the experience was developed by Westin Hotels & Resorts’ spa team and includes a luxurious yet portable spa bed and a spa basket filled with sensory items to be enjoyed before, during and after the massage.

The resort’s in-room spa experience is customized from start to finish-beginning with booking, when a staff member collects information about the guest’s history and preferences.  Approximately 40 minutes before the massage appointment, hotel staff delivers a spa basket holding water, a flower, a CD containing customized relaxation music, a healthful treat such as a dark chocolate and a letter explaining what to expect from the treatment along with tips for ultimate relaxation and enjoyment.  The basket also contains a selection of plant-based aromatherapy oils and room sprays, allowing the guest to choose a scent for the treatment.

“Historically, hotels offering in-room massage have used equipment and methods that were designed for function, not comfort,” explained Du Nguyen, spa manager for the resort.  “The new Westin initiative brings the spa experience to the guest room by incorporating all five senses-the bowl of flowers, for example, helps guests focus and unwind in an organic way.”

Available in the resort’s guestrooms daily between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, choices include the signature full-body Heavenly Massage customized for a truly uplifting experience.  Using one of the spa’s specialty oil blends, guests can request for “ikaika” for vitality; “maile” for serenity; and “kamahele” for jet lag. The 50-minute massage is available at $160.00 per person and 80-minute massage is available at $205 per person. Prices exclude tax and gratuity.  Hotel guests can make reservations, minimum 24-hours in advance, by calling the spa at (808) 661-2588 or the resort at (808) 667-2525.

"Having a world-class spa really elevates what we can offer our guests," said Craig Anderson, the resort’s General Manager.  "There's a huge growth in travel where people are looking for, and expecting, a resort with a first-rate spa facility - and now we can offer our guests the luxury they're demanding - all with a perfect location overlooking Ka'anapali Beach.”

A special feature of the spa is the partnering with the Maui Lavender Farm, a garden located in Upcountry Maui.  Incorporating this Maui-grown essence into special treatments is a trademark of the spa.  Unique treatments such as the Heavenly Body Wrap which uses a rich lavender and ginger moisturizer and Sunburn Relief Massage using cool marble stones and a special lavender-aloe blend are just a few indulgences of the spa.

Located on 12 oceanfront acres along Ka’anapali Beach, The Westin Maui Resort & Spa is nestled between the shimmering Pacific Ocean and verdant West Maui mountains.  Each of the 758 guest rooms and suites feature Westin’s signature Heavenly Beds and Heavenly Baths.  A key feature at this tropical resort that won the 2006 Trip Advisor award for best pool in Maui (number two in North America) is the magnificent aquatic playground with five pools, a 128-ft waterslide and swim through grotto set amidst lush landscaped gardens with meandering streams, 15 to 20 foot cascading waterfalls and exotic wildlife.  Other highlights include the 15,000 square-foot Heavenly Spa by Westin, Westin Workout Center powered by Reebok, Westin Kids Club and its exciting Discovery Program and the Westin Unwind Ritual held evenings with various Hawaiian arts and culture hula dancing and ukulele performances. With its genuine aloha service, the world-class Westin Maui prides itself on being the place “Where Heaven and Aloha Meet™.”  Visit www.westinmaui.com for more.
