Ka'anapali Historical Tour

Pipi Holo Ka'ao
(A well told tale travels far and wide)

Ka'anapali is rich with history and legends  of the the area's storied past. Starting at the north end of Ka'anapali at the Plantation Farm & Ancient Village of Keka'a, the guided tour stops at 10 sites marked by lava rock monuments with plaques that explain their significance.

It continues south toward The Westin Maui Resort & Spa with captivating stories about Maui: Keka'a Landing Pier, which operated for years as the primary shipping point for Maui sugar; the legend of Pu'u Keka'a, the famed dark lava rock; and Koko O Na Moku Race Track which hosted horse races enjoyed by Hawaiian royalty and laborers alike. The tour ends at the beginning stretch of Ka'anapali beach.

The “Ka'anapali Historical Trail” tour runs approximately two hours from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday. The tour is limited to a maximum of 22 guests. The Ka'anapali Trolley takes guests to the first four sites, and the remaining sites are accessed on foot. Visitors can also take a self-guided tour of the trail using a free brochure and map available.

Advance reservations are required and check-in is at 8:55 a.m. at the Royal Hale across from the parking lot at the end of Keka'a Drive.  Pick up is at the Royal Lahaina Resort’s Activity Pick Up Area in their parking lot.   The Royal Lahaina is an easy 15 minute walk from the The Westin Maui Resort & Spa or call the resort’s complimentary shuttle driver.
