 What's New

The Hawaii State Legislature recently passed the “Healthy Air & Workplaces Law” – a smoke-free ordinance implemented to protect the health and wellbeing of people from the risks of secondhand smoke.  This law which goes into effect on November 16, 2006, prohibits smoking in places open to the public and places of employment and requires clear designation of areas where smoking is permitted.

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa will be promoting a smoke-free environment.  Smoking will be prohibited in all guestrooms, including the lanai.

We realize that not all of our guests are non-smokers, and we have designated the following areas as the only smoking areas on the resort:

  • Resort front entrance, turn left as you leave the entrance
  • Aloha Pavilion on the south end of the resort, near the beach walk
  • Valley Isle Ballroom entrance area
  • Lower Pool Deck area near the Ocean Commotion clothes store

In response to the strict guidelines set by the law and the need to keep our rooms free of smoke residue, the hotels will assess a $200 reconditioning fee to a guest if a guest room and/or a lanai is found to have been compromised. This fee will cover the cost of deep-cleaning required to restore the room back to its smoke free condition.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we aim to perpetuate personal renewal and wellness.
